The Five Chapter Story

I have used the 5 Chapter Story for years as a tool to measure my progress through challenging situations and also to share with my clients to help them ascertain what "chapter" they are experiencing when they feel stuck.  I share it here with you.  It's really an amazing tool and invite you to use it to identify and move through any patterns that don't serve you.

THE FIVE CHAPTER STORY

Chapter One

I was walking down the street and I fell into this big black hole. It wasn’t my fault and it was dark and scary and it took me a long time to get out.


Chapter Two

I was walking down the street and I fell into this big black hole. It still wasn’t my fault and it was still dark and scary but it was familiar and I knew how to get out and got out quickly.


Chapter Three

I was walking down the street and saw this big black hole and chose to jump in. I got out very quickly.


Chapter Four

I was walking down the street and saw this big black hole and chose to walk around it.


Chapter Five

I walked down a different street.

Curiously, I find myself often trying to go from Chapter 3 in a situation right to Chapter 5, thereby skipping Chapter 4 completely. I guess Chapter 4 for me is the most difficult (those situations where I've "been there, done that" and just want to avoid it again).  I have come to realize, however, that to actually heal a pattern in our lives, it is important that we experience ALL FIVE chapters.  Chapter 4 is the most healing chapter.  It's the one where you can SEE the pattern and consciously CHOOSE to walk around it.  Then Chapter 5 is a true release!
